Frequently asked questions
What is RadioRat?
RadioRat is an interactive globe for discovering and listening to live radio stations from around the world. Spin the globe, pick a signal, and press play to listen to a broadcaster’s public stream.
Is RadioRat free?
Yes, RadioRat is free to use without a subscription. Listening uses your internet connection, so your network provider’s data charges may apply.
Do I need to sign up?
No account or sign-up is required to listen. Favorites and listening preferences are saved in your browser.
How do I find stations from a specific country?
Browse the country directory or use search to enter a country name. Choose a station to open it in the globe, then press play.
Can I listen on mobile?
Yes, RadioRat works in mobile browsers with an internet connection and a supported audio format. Drag the globe with a finger and tap a signal to select a station.
Where do the streams come from?
Station metadata comes from the community-maintained Radio Browser directory. Your browser connects directly to each broadcaster’s public stream; RadioRat does not host or rebroadcast the audio.
How can I report a broken station?
Use the Contact page to email a report with the station name, country, station link, and a description of the problem. Streams and directory metadata may also need corrections in the upstream Radio Browser directory.
Can I save favorites?
Yes, use the favorite control to save a station and open Library to find it again. Favorites are stored locally in your browser, so clearing site data removes them unless you have exported a backup.
How does Nearby work?
Nearby asks for your browser’s location permission when you choose that mode. If permission is granted, RadioRat uses your location in the current session to find nearby listed signals.
Why will a station not play?
A broadcaster may be offline, geographically restricted, or using an audio format that your browser does not support. Try another signal; a stream that worked when the directory snapshot was created may no longer be available.
